In an interview with the program 60 Minutes, aired on 7/12, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene accused former President Donald Trump of abandoning the loyal voters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement to prioritize corporations.
Greene previously held one of the highest voting records in Congress, supporting legislation backed by former President Donald Trump, reaching 98% during his terms. However, she admitted to CBS that her relationship with Trump has fractured due to disagreements over foreign policy and the rising cost of living.
She criticized Trump's recent policies, stating they no longer prioritized domestic policy but instead shifted to backing the interests of large corporations, particularly the cryptocurrency and pharmaceutical industries.
"Those sectors are getting everything they want", she stated, adding, "As for the people, we are still pleading: Act immediately on the issues that directly affect the people, instead of helping big corporations and donors."
"MAGA is President Trump's slogan, it's his political policy", she affirmed. "I am a proponent of the America First agenda."

Greene also criticized her Republican colleagues, suggesting they feared Trump's attacks on them on Truth Social, leading them to shift from mocking him to "flattering" him.
Greene has increasingly distanced herself from the rest of the Republican party. She was the only member of the party to publicly call the conflict in Gaza a "genocide" and voted against the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act.
The conflict became evident when Greene sided with Democrats to support extending healthcare subsidies during a government shutdown. She stated that insurance costs were a real issue in her district, contrary to Trump's view that affordability was just a "hoax" created by Democrats.
Tension between Greene and Trump escalated when the representative signed a petition supporting the release of records related to Jeffrey Epstein. She stated that the US President was furious, saying this action would hurt many people. Greene responded that the victims of sexual assault were the ones who deserved to be heard at the White House.

The congresswoman revealed that she and her family received multiple death threats after Trump called her "crazy" and a "traitor." Her home was threatened with a bombing, and her son received numerous death threats with the subject line "Marjorie Greene betrayed." When she reported the incidents, Vice President JD Vance promised to look into it, but Trump sent a response she described as "extremely unkind."
Following a series of controversies and pressures, Greene announced on 21/11 that she will leave office in early 2026 and will not seek re-election as a Georgia representative. She explained this decision was to "preserve her dignity", protect her family, and avoid a "toxic" primary election in her represented district.
Despite her split with Trump and the decision to step down, the Georgia representative still retains local support. She dismissed rumors of running for president, governor, or the Senate.
