Former Nonthaburi Member of Parliament Chalong Riewrang surrendered to local police on 10/8, shortly after fatally shooting Thongchai Yenprasert, the chairman of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), outside the organization's headquarters.
Thai media reported that the shooting occurred around 10:20 AM at the Nonthaburi provincial administrative complex on Rattanathibet Road.
Witnesses described Chalong waiting for Thongchai as he prepared to leave the headquarters. Chalong approached Thongchai’s car and knocked on the window. When Thongchai lowered the window to speak, Chalong immediately drew a gun, fired, and then calmly put the weapon away before leaving the scene.

Thongchai sustained four gunshot wounds, some of which were critical. His driver was also hit by a bullet. Medical personnel administered first aid and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on both men before transporting them to Phra Nang Klao Hospital. However, Thongchai did not survive.
Chalong is a well-known politician in Nonthaburi, having previously served as an MP for the Thai Citizen Party and later the Pheu Thai Party. He was unsuccessful in the 2023 election, where he ran for the Bhumjaithai Party.
According to Khaosod, Chalong called television presenter Anchalee "Jae Pong" Paireerak during a live broadcast and confessed to shooting the Nonthaburi PAO chairman approximately four or five times.

Chalong stated he was angry because Thongchai had refused his demand to "repay" 11 million baht. Chalong also mentioned a dispute regarding the selection of a parliamentary candidate, claiming he had previously asked Thongchai's side not to nominate a specific candidate, but this request was not accepted.
Another source indicated that Chalong said he acted because he felt "unfairly treated."
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and the suspect's motive has not yet been officially announced.
