The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is one of Russia's significant memorials, inaugurated in 1967 to honor Red Army soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
The memorial consists of a dark red porphyry block, adorned with a laurel branch and a helmet placed on a bronze flag. In front, a five-pointed labradorite star emits the Eternal Flame from its center, symbolizing the enduring memory of those who sacrificed their lives. Below the flame, a bronze inscription reads: "Your name is unknown, your deed is immortal."
Since 1997, by decree of the Russian President, the Kremlin Regiment's guard change ceremony has been held hourly here, replacing its former location in front of Lenin's Mausoleum. This ceremony has become a symbol, attracting many tourists and locals for commemoration.
