Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, stated on 15/6 that the release of Iran's frozen assets and compensation for damages are two essential points. He confirmed that the US has committed to addressing both issues as part of a framework agreement.
Baqaei added that the agreement stipulates Iran will collect fees for maritime services, environmental protection, ship protection, and other essential services from vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The US has not yet responded to these claims. However, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social the same day, noting that oil tankers were moving out of the Strait of Hormuz, apparently via a route near Oman. Trump added that this sea lane is "completely safe".
Baqaei indicated that Iran would seek United Nations Security Council (UNSC) approval after successfully negotiating a final nuclear agreement with the US. Documents endorsed by the Security Council are usually legally binding, preventing parties from unilateral withdrawal.

"The final agreement is expected to be adopted via a Security Council resolution within 60 days," the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated, adding that Iran "will learn from past experiences."
Iran's deep distrust of the US stems from past experiences. Iran previously signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with the US and other world powers. Under this deal, Tehran committed to limiting its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. However, during his first term, US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the agreement and reimposed sanctions on Iran.
Despite the new agreement to end hostilities, Baqaei noted that Iran remains "extremely distrustful" of the US. "Unfortunately, Iran's deep distrust of the US stems from a long history of misconduct by US leaders," Baqaei stated, emphasizing that Washington still has a significant path ahead to earn Tehran's trust.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who mediated the talks, announced that the agreement commits the US and Iran to an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. He added that the agreement is scheduled for signing in Switzerland on 19/6.
