North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim Jong-un was re-elected chairman of the State Affairs Commission on 22/3. The re-election occurred during the first session of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly, the country's parliament.
The State Affairs Commission is North Korea's highest governing and policymaking body. Its chairman serves as both the head of state and the supreme commander of the armed forces.
According to KCNA, the decision to elect Kim to the "leading position of the country" reflects the will and aspirations of all North Korean people.

Leader Kim Jong-un was also re-elected general secretary of the Workers' Party at the 9th National Congress in February. North Korea then held new parliamentary elections on 15/3. This body typically convenes after the Workers' Party congress to legislate decisions made during the congress.
Beyond electing the chairman of the State Affairs Commission and other leading bodies, the new North Korean parliament will discuss constitutional amendments. It will also review the 5-year economic plan announced at the Workers' Party congress.
Speaking at the congress's opening on 19/2, Kim stated that the ruling party faces a "historical, urgent task". This task involves strengthening economic development, improving people's living standards, and transforming all social and state sectors as soon as possible.
Since taking power in 2011, Kim has consistently emphasized the need to improve the country's economy.
