Chinese President Xi Jinping announced an "important consensus" with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, emphasizing a commitment to deepen bilateral relations. This announcement came in a thank-you message published today by the KCNA news agency, following Xi's two-day state visit to North Korea. During the visit, the two leaders engaged in "in-depth exchanges on issues of common concern."
Looking to the future, President Xi expressed readiness to cooperate with leader Kim Jong-un. This cooperation, he stated, would be "based on fundamental and long-term interests" to safeguard, strengthen, and foster stable relations between the two nations, thereby contributing to peace and development regionally and globally.
"The visit concluded successfully, and relations between the two countries have entered a new historical phase," President Xi remarked, also conveying his wish to meet Kim again.

President Xi's state visit to North Korea on 8-9/6 marked his first trip to the nation in 7 years. According to Xinhua, he stated that the visit fostered a deeper, more comprehensive understanding between the two sides and provided a clear direction for advancing their relationship.
The two leaders agreed to expand cooperation across political, economic, and cultural spheres. They also committed to enhancing strategic exchanges between their respective governments.
North Korea extended a grand reception to the Chinese President. Kim Jong-un and his wife personally welcomed President Xi and his wife at the airport. A welcome ceremony at Kim Il Sung Square featured numerous high-ranking officials and citizens.
The two leaders laid a wreath at the China-North Korea Friendship Tower, a memorial dedicated to Chinese soldiers who perished in the Korean War. They also visited a key political cadre training school of the Workers' Party of Korea. During their visit, President Xi and leader Kim jointly planted a fir tree, a gesture symbolizing "everlasting and developing friendship."
