British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has accused Elon Musk of political interference and inciting division in the UK, particularly in the wake of escalating protests demanding rights for white people. Speaking after a meeting with mayors on 4/6, Starmer emphasized the need for national unity. "We need to clearly demonstrate our country's identity, as Elon Musk is once again seeking to intervene in politics and incite division. The British people are rational and tolerant. Faced with a terrible incident like the Henry Nowak case, we need to react calmly, just as his family is doing," Starmer stated.
A spokesperson for Prime Minister Starmer later clarified that the government was not targeting any specific post by Musk. Instead, their concerns revolved around the "general tone" of content related to the Nowak case, which has been widely discussed on social media.
The prime minister's comments refer to the death of Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old student who was a victim in a stabbing incident on his way home on 3/12/2025 in Southampton. Suspect Vickrum Digwa claimed that Nowak had racially insulted and attacked him first. Following the incident, Hampshire police handcuffed Nowak as he was dying from his wounds, reportedly ignoring his pleas that he had been stabbed and "could not breathe."
Prime Minister Starmer met with the Nowak family in London to discuss addressing misconduct by Hampshire police. He expressed being "deeply moved" after the meeting and vowed to take all necessary action to rectify the errors in the incident. Following an investigation, Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, with a minimum term of 21 years before parole consideration.

Images of the Nowak case have circulated on social media platform X in recent months, sparking outrage among the British public. Billionaire Elon Musk has repeatedly suggested that the Nowak case reveals anti-white prejudice in the UK. He also offered to fund a private prosecution against the Hampshire police force.
Labour Party leader Kemi Badenoch also met with the Nowak family on 5/6, stating that they "do not want anger to divide the community." The UK police watchdog is currently investigating the conduct of the officers who handcuffed Nowak. Many posts on X mistakenly identified two Hampshire police officers as being involved in Nowak's arrest. A former police officer reportedly went into hiding after receiving death threats. The Hampshire Police Federation announced it had suspended social media activity due to serious threats against its members.
The controversy comes after 11 police officers and one police dog were injured in clashes in Southampton on the evening of 2/6. During the incident, a crowd, including far-right elements, attacked security forces during a protest related to Nowak's death.
This is not the first time Elon Musk has intervened in British politics. Last year, he clashed with the British government over child abuse gangs and openly supported activist Tommy Robinson. Prime Minister Starmer, who has often been a target of Musk's criticism, then accused the American billionaire of "spreading lies and misinformation."
