"I wasn't acting. If I were, I wouldn't look this old," Sharon Simmons, a DoorDash delivery driver, told Fox News on 14/4. "I am not a paid actress; my life is just like everyone else's." Simmons, a grandmother of 10, affirmed she is an ordinary worker selected to deliver to the White House. She works to support her family while her husband battles cancer.
On 13/4, Simmons approached the Oval Office door, delivering two paper bags of McDonald's fast food to president Donald Trump. The president received the order and then tipped the DoorDash employee 100 USD.

The delivery occurred just before the 15/4 deadline for Americans to finalize their previous year's personal income tax. The Trump administration, in 7/2025, rolled out a "no tip tax" policy, enabling individuals like Simmons to boost their income. Simmons reported receiving over 11,000 USD in refunds thanks to this policy.
Following the delivery, Simmons faced skepticism, with many suggesting she was paid to stage the White House event. This pressure was felt by the Arkansas woman, as social media comments questioned her DoorDash employment. Others circulated images of her previously testifying before the US Congress and being a "supporter" of Trump.
Simmons confirmed her testimony before the US Congress in 7/2025 regarding Nevada's "no tip tax" policy, reiterating her status as a DoorDash employee. "I don't want to be drawn into divisive issues; that's not who I am. I love everyone, regardless of their stance on various matters, as that's how my parents raised me," Simmons stated. "Some things I've read online have genuinely made me feel uncomfortable and burdened."

According to DoorDash, Simmons began working for the company in 2022 and has completed over 14,000 orders. Julian Crowley, DoorDash's head of public relations, posted on X: "This was clearly a planned event to highlight the rollout of a new policy. Claims that Sharon is a plant or an actress are entirely false and baseless. She is a DoorDash driver, participating to support a policy that benefits her."
