This special form of engagement between the highest-level leaders of the two Parties and nations demonstrates the importance, friendship, and camaraderie, reflecting a "comrades and brothers" spirit, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The leaders and their spouses reflected on the traditional friendship between the two Parties and nations. They recalled fond memories and the positive sentiments shared during their previous meetings, and discussed the cultures and customs of each country. Both sides lauded the common understandings and achievements of the visit, agreeing to jointly advance the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Vietnam - China Community of Shared Future, which holds strategic significance as it enters a new era of development.

General Secretary and President To Lam's state visit to China took place from 14-17/4. This is the most important bilateral foreign policy activity between the two Parties and nations in 2026.
During talks in Beijing on the morning of 15/4, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that both sides establish new heights for economic-trade, investment, and tourism cooperation, aiming to realize each country's development goals. He emphasized the need to focus resources on elevating strategic infrastructure connectivity, giving the highest priority to railway cooperation, and shifting from mere trade to economic integration, linking bilateral trade with infrastructure, logistics, and market connectivity.
Vietnam requested China to maximize market access for Vietnamese goods, promote balanced trade, boost investment, facilitate technology transfer, develop supporting industries, and establish complete supply and production chains in Vietnam.
Xi Jinping welcomed more high-quality Vietnamese goods being exported to the Chinese market. He proposed that both sides strengthen cooperation in key industries, production, and supply chains, encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Vietnam, and enhance connectivity in science and technology policies and cultural exchanges.
