Iran's Fars News agency reported that three large explosions occurred at 1:30 AM on 28/5 in eastern Bandar Abbas, a port city near the Strait of Hormuz and home to a strategic naval base. Air defense systems in Bandar Abbas were briefly activated.
"The precise location and origin of the sounds have not yet been determined, and monitoring measures are underway to clarify the incident," Fars News stated.

Reuters later quoted an unnamed US official who stated that the US conducted another airstrike against an Iranian military target. The official indicated that the site posed a threat to Washington's forces and maritime operations in the region.
The US official added that several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran were also shot down, but did not provide further details.
The Pentagon and Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, have not yet commented.

This strike occurred three days after the US military carried out a "self-defense attack" on an Iranian ship allegedly laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. These events unfold as US and Iranian negotiators work to finalize a memorandum of understanding to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while also creating more time to reach an agreement on the fate of Iran's high-grade enriched uranium stockpiles.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting televised live from the White House on 27/5, US President Donald Trump said that Iran wants a deal, but their proposals are still insufficient.
"Iran is very willing, they really want a deal. So far they haven't achieved that. We are not happy with this, but we will be satisfied. Either that, or we will have to finish the job," he said.

Trump added that he was not in a rush, despite declaring a deal "very close" last weekend.
Tasnim news agency quoted General Mohammad Akbarzadeh, a senior official of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as saying that the possibility of renewed conflict is "very low due to the weak enemy capabilities," but warned that the Iranian military "is waiting with full magazines" if attacked.
