On 1/9, the US Embassy in Hanoi posted a message from US President Donald Trump on its Facebook and Instagram accounts. In the message, President Trump affirmed that Vietnam's independence demonstrates the strength and resilience of its people. He called it "a legacy that continues to inspire the friendship the two nations proudly share today".

President Trump emphasized the US values its growing partnership with Vietnam. He highlighted progress within the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework and both nations' shared commitment to peace, prosperity, and stability across the Indo-Pacific region.

"We welcome Vietnam's growing global leadership as a US partner," he stated, "including its prominent role as a founding member supporting the Peace Council."

The President expressed his desire to build on this progress, stating, "We will cooperate to ensure shared prosperity and security in the future." He also wished Vietnam "a new year of even greater success, peace, and prosperity."

Vietnam-US relations normalized in July 1995 and were upgraded to a Comprehensive Partnership in July 2013. This period saw numerous high-level visits by leaders from both nations. Cooperation spans various fields: political-diplomatic, economic, educational, scientific-technological, and defense-security.

In 9/2023, Vietnam and the US formally established their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aiming for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

In February, General Secretary, President To Lam attended the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council on the Gaza Strip in Washington. He participated at President Trump's invitation, representing Vietnam as a founding member state.
