"Iran is very well-intentioned; they truly want to reach a deal. So far, they haven't achieved it. We are not satisfied with this, but eventually, we will be. Either that, or we will have to finish the job," US President Donald Trump stated at a cabinet meeting at the White House on 27/5.
Trump suggested Iran is "negotiating in a hopeless state," adding he is "not in a hurry" to reach an agreement to end the Middle East conflict. "Either that, or we will have to finish the job," he stated, alluding to threats of resuming military operations against Iran.

Earlier, Iranian state television reported on a draft agreement with the US. This draft included provisions for Washington to commit to lifting the blockade of Tehran's seaports, restoring traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, and withdrawing forces from the Gulf region. The White House dismissed this information as "completely fabricated."
President Trump reiterated he is not rushing to reach an agreement with Iran, even with midterm elections approaching in November. The Republican Party's approval rating is at a record low, just 6 months before a vote that will determine if the party retains control of Congress.
"They believe they can outwait me, thinking, 'we'll wait longer than him; he still has to face the midterm elections.' I am not concerned about the midterm elections," President Trump stated.
The US and Iran have exchanged fire multiple times during ceasefires, even as negotiations continue to achieve a conflict-ending agreement. Iran announced it is finalizing a 14-point framework for a peace deal.
