Interim President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez on 12/1 chaired a working session in Catia La Mar, La Guaira state, an area described as heavily impacted by a US military attack on 3/1. During her speech, Rodriguez reacted strongly to disinformation campaigns, including memes and Wikipedia content portraying Donald Trump as a Venezuelan official. She called these desperate efforts to deny Venezuela's political reality and sovereign will.
Rodriguez's strong reaction came after President Donald Trump on 12/1 posted a photoshopped Wikipedia page on Truth Social, adding the title 'Acting President of Venezuela, incumbent from 1/2026.' Trump's post included no message, and the White House has not commented on the information.

Rodriguez affirmed that Venezuela's state structure still operates normally and functions effectively, despite the country being under siege. She stated the government would not be swayed by 'media fabrications,' which she believes are spread to sow confusion domestically and internationally. "Venezuela has a normally functioning government. We have an interim president and a legitimate president being held hostage in the US," she said, referring to Nicolas Maduro, who was arrested during a US raid on 3/1.

This incident follows earlier controversial statements from Trump. At a press conference on 3/1 in Mar-a-Lago, Trump declared the US would govern Venezuela until a 'safe, appropriate, and careful' power transition occurred there. US officials later clarified that Washington is using economic leverage to shape policy in Caracas and aims to control Venezuelan oil transactions to secure benefits for both its people and the American public.
Interim President Rodriguez has recently sent mixed signals regarding cooperation with the US. On one hand, she consistently criticizes Maduro's arrest as illegal and firmly opposes foreign intervention, while on the other, she accepts negotiations with Washington on oil and exploring the resumption of diplomatic relations.
