During talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing on the morning of 5/9, General Secretary and President To Lam praised the Myanmar government's efforts in implementing measures to promote stability, reconciliation, dialogue, economic development, ensure security and safety, and improve people's lives.

President Min Aung Hlaing emphasized Myanmar values its traditional friendship and seeks to enhance cooperation and learn from Vietnam's development experiences, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides agreed to continue consolidating political trust by increasing high-level and all-level delegation exchanges and contacts. They also agreed to continue effectively developing defense and security cooperation as a pillar in bilateral relations, reaffirming their commitment not to allow any individual or organization to use one country's territory against the other.

Regarding economic, trade, and investment cooperation, President Min Aung Hlaing affirmed Myanmar would provide attention, address difficulties, and create a favorable environment for Vietnamese businesses to invest and operate long-term and stably in Myanmar.

He expressed hope that Vietnamese businesses would actively participate and expand cooperation with Myanmar enterprises in areas where Vietnam has strengths and Myanmar has needs.

Min Aung Hlaing appreciated the cooperation implemented by both sides in education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. He proposed that the two sides deepen cultural connections and promote exchanges among all social strata.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized Vietnam's readiness to share its experience in national development, ensuring economic security, promoting sustainable growth, stabilizing the macro-economy, policy formulation, and socio-economic management. This approach centers on the people, fosters internal strength alongside proactive international integration, and effectively leverages external resources for national development.

The two leaders agreed to enhance exchanges within regional and international cooperation mechanisms, including ASEAN and Mekong sub-regional frameworks. President Min Aung Hlaing thanked Vietnam for its consistent support to Myanmar throughout its national construction and development, as well as in ASEAN and other regional and international forums.

Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea. They agreed to resolve disagreements and disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The two sides also agreed to increase exchanges and share experiences in strategic regional areas. These include transport infrastructure connectivity among Mekong sub-region countries, comprising Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, and cooperation in managing and sustainably utilizing water resources.

Also on 5/9, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met President Min Aung Hlaing at the National Assembly House. They discussed the role of the two legislative bodies in their respective political systems and national development processes.

Both sides agreed that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in bilateral relations. It helps consolidate political trust, promotes and oversees the implementation of high-level agreements, and contributes to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the Myanmar government to address difficulties faced by Vietnamese businesses investing and operating in Myanmar. He asked them to create conditions for these businesses to contribute to Myanmar's socio-economic development.

The two leaders agreed to promote the effective implementation of cooperation agreements signed between the two national assemblies. They also committed to leveraging the role of legislative bodies in creating a favorable legal framework and effectively supervising the progress of high-level agreements, contributing to the Vietnam-Myanmar Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership.

The Myanmar President paid an official visit to Vietnam from 4-6/9. This marks his first visit to Vietnam since Myanmar completed its general elections in January and formed a new government. It is also the highest-level delegation exchange between the two sides since 2019.

Vietnam and Myanmar established diplomatic relations on 28/5/1975, upgrading to a Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership in 8/2017. Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Nguyen Anh Duc believes President Min Aung Hlaing's visit will help consolidate traditional friendship, strengthen political trust between the two countries, and promote the expansion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
