"I have sent Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, two excellent negotiators, to carry out this mission. They have done a very good job, and we are sending them to see if any results can be achieved. It is very likely that we will succeed," President Donald Trump stated on 4/9, referring to the two envoys' visit to Moscow and Kyiv.

Trump stated that Witkoff and Kushner will carry a proposal to end the conflict, which has lasted over 4 years. He did not disclose the specifics of this proposal but affirmed, "we have an idea for peace."

If the visit proceeds as planned, this will be the first time envoys Witkoff and Kushner visit Kyiv since Trump returned to the White House last year. The two American envoys had previously visited Moscow and met senior Russian officials.

An unnamed Ukrainian official revealed to AFP that Witkoff and Kushner would arrive in Kyiv on 6/9.

The Kremlin has not commented on the information. However, Axios, citing informed sources, reported that the two American envoys are expected to visit Moscow to meet President Vladimir Putin on 5/9 and then Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on 6/9.

The US president has repeatedly stated his intention to mediate an end to the Ukraine conflict. However, he has faced difficulties in bringing Moscow and Kyiv to an agreement, as the two sides have yet to find common ground.

President Putin stated that Russia is ready to welcome more parties to participate in negotiations on Ukraine if they can make substantial contributions, but will not engage in "meaningless formal diplomacy." The Russian leader specifically mentioned the two envoys, Kushner and Witkoff, describing them as "sincere dialogue partners and always welcome guests."
