Vietnam seeks to boost technology cooperation with China

General Secretary, President To Lam expressed his desire for the two nations to enhance cooperation in digital transformation and strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and semiconductors.

In Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on 14/4, General Secretary, President To Lam met with Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

To achieve this, General Secretary, President To Lam expressed his desire for both sides to promote three connections: those of ideals and beliefs, development interests, and culture and people's hearts.

General Secretary, President To Lam proposed that the two countries work together to create breakthroughs in new areas such as transport infrastructure development, especially railways, and accelerate cooperation in digital transformation and strategic technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and semiconductors. This is in addition to strengthening traditional cooperation sectors such as trade and investment, and fostering high-quality human resource training.

General Secretary, President To Lam also suggested increasing exchanges, promoting Vietnam-China friendship, and highlighting the achievements of renovation and reform in each country. He called for joint efforts to control and appropriately address maritime disagreements, contributing to enhanced mutual understanding and friendly sentiment between the two nations.

Chairman Wang Huning affirmed that China consistently views its relationship with Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy. He proposed that both sides firmly grasp the direction of bilateral relations development, further strengthening strategic connectivity, with a particular emphasis on accelerating infrastructure connections, artificial intelligence development, and the digital economy.

Chairman Wang Huning stated that China is ready to expand imports of Vietnamese goods, especially high-quality agricultural products, and encourages businesses to increase investment and mutually beneficial cooperation in Vietnam.

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is prepared to strengthen friendly relations with the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, jointly encourage exchanges among all segments of the population, especially the younger generation, and expand cooperation in education, health, and local exchanges. This aims to open a new chapter in friendly exchanges between the two countries, and to support each other in successfully organizing multilateral events, including APEC Year 2026 in China and APEC Year 2027 in Vietnam.
