Iran claims 'at least $270 billion in damages' from six-week conflict

Iranian officials estimate conflict damages at $270 billion, demanding compensation from the US, Israel, and Gulf nations.

"War reparations are a topic the negotiating team is pursuing, which they raised during the dialogue round in Islamabad. Officials must consider damage estimates at various levels. We assess losses from US and Israeli attacks to be about $270 billion", Fatemeh Mohajerani, spokesperson for the Iranian government, told Russian news agency RIA Novosti today.

Mohajerani noted this is a preliminary estimate after six weeks of conflict; actual figures could be higher after Iran conducts a full assessment. Beyond demanding compensation from the US and Israel, Iran believes some Gulf countries involved in Washington's operations should also bear joint responsibility.

Iranian Ambassador Amir-Saeid Iravani sent a letter to the United Nations (UN) on 13/4, requesting five Gulf nations: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Jordan, to compensate for war damages.

Iranian officials stated that Gulf countries allowing the US to use their territory or airspace for operations violated international obligations. "These countries must fully compensate Iran for all damages, including both material and moral losses", the letter read.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously declared it does not allow the use of its territory or airspace for military operations against Iran, reaffirming its commitment to neutrality and regional stability.

Diplomatic tensions escalated after the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2817, condemning Iran's attacks on Gulf countries. Tehran criticized this resolution, arguing its content was unfair and lacked legal basis.
