Following the earthquake on the afternoon of 28/7, Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan contacted local authorities through the International Boards of Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Oita, and Miyazaki provinces, as well as Vietnamese associations in the affected areas. This was done to assess the situation and prepare timely protection measures for Vietnamese citizens impacted by the earthquake, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
