350 pickup trucks enliven Lang Co beach

“Vietnam pickup festival 2026” returns after three years with off-road racing challenges and drowning rescue skills training.

The "Vietnam Pickup Festival 2026" recently brought together 350 pickup trucks and approximately 1,000 enthusiasts from across the nation in Chan May - Lang Co commune. This year's event, held after a three-year hiatus since its last occurrence in 2023, aimed to foster community among pickup owners and challenge their driving skills. The festival kicked off with a grand parade of pickup trucks, led by traffic police, circling the scenic Lap An lagoon, a renowned landmark of Chan May - Lang Co.

"Vietnam Pickup Festival 2026" was held in Chan May - Lang Co commune, attracting 350 pickup trucks and about 1,000 users of this vehicle type nationwide. To kick off the festival, a convoy of pickup trucks, led by traffic police, drove around Lap An lagoon, a famous scenic spot in Chan May - Lang Co commune.

Following the opening parade, experienced pickup truck drivers showcased their skills in an exhilarating off-road race across sandy hill terrain. The demanding course tested both vehicle capabilities and driver expertise.

A Ranger Raptor, for example, demonstrated its power by speeding through a straight section of the track. Spectators gathered enthusiastically outside the race circuit, braving the sun to cheer on the competitors.

Navigating quicksand proved to be a significant challenge for drivers. Success in such conditions requires not only a vehicle equipped with four-wheel drive but also considerable driver experience in handling the terrain. Proper tire pressure is also essential, allowing the vehicle to maintain grip without digging into the sand when accelerating.

Besides participating in the off-road race, many other activities took place on Lang Co Bay beach, such as cooking and learning first aid.

Another Ranger was seen skillfully climbing a steep slope, highlighting the capabilities of these vehicles in challenging environments.

Pickup club members competed in a rescue drill using inflatable boats. The competition helped members hone their skills and receive more specialized training in emergency care for victims.

Beyond the competitive off-road racing, Lang Co Bay beach hosted a variety of other activities. These included communal cooking sessions and practical first aid training, emphasizing both camaraderie and community preparedness among the participants.

A key component of the festival was a rescue drill competition, where pickup club members utilized inflatable boats to practice emergency response. This exercise aimed to enhance members' skills and provide specialized training in emergency care for victims.

The training included critical first aid techniques such as chest compressions and artificial respiration for emergency resuscitation.
