On 25/7, a truck unexpectedly stopped and then reversed. At that moment, a car was traveling in the same direction behind it. Despite the car driver continuously sounding the horn, the truck driver continued to reverse without observing, leading to a collision. The accident caused no injuries. After the collision, the truck driver moved the vehicle to the roadside and got out to resolve the incident, which occurred in Cau Thong residential area, Dai Phuc commune (formerly Dai Tu district).
Drivers must exercise extreme caution when reversing to prevent such incidents. When stopping, vehicles should be moved close to the curb. Before reversing, drivers must thoroughly check behind the vehicle, including blind spots, to ensure no other vehicles, people, or obstacles are in the path. Continuous observation is crucial throughout the reversing process. If the rear view is obstructed by blind spots, it is advisable to seek assistance or use a rearview camera for safety.
Under Decree 168/2024 on traffic violations, drivers who reverse improperly and cause an accident face a fine of 20-22 million VND and a deduction of 10 points from their driver's license.
A similar incident occurred on 4/7 on Nguyen Chi Thanh street, Hanoi, when a car unexpectedly accelerated while reversing from a sidewalk onto the road. This resulted in a collision with a motorbike, throwing the rider a distance, before the car subsequently struck another vehicle.
