B-segment sedan sales in Vietnam reached 2,124 units in June, an increase of 261 units from the previous month, representing nearly 14%. This growth was primarily driven by the Honda City, while most other models continued to report lower sales than the preceding month.
The Honda City was the best-selling model in the segment for June, with 912 units sold, an increase of 467 units from the previous month, more than double its sales. This marked City's highest monthly sales figure since the beginning of the year. The Mazda2 followed with 471 units, a slight increase of 37 units. In contrast, the Toyota Vios recorded 436 units, a decrease of 190 units compared to May, dropping to third place in the monthly rankings. This was the first month this year that the Toyota Vios did not hold the top sales position in the segment.
Despite losing the top spot in June, the Toyota Vios maintained its leading position in the segment based on cumulative sales. For the first half of the year, Toyota's sedan sold 4,549 units, significantly ahead of the Honda City, which recorded 3,522 units. The Mazda2 ranked third with cumulative sales of 2,592 units, continuing to maintain a lead over the remaining competitors.
Among the lower-ranked models, the Hyundai Accent continued to experience a less favorable sales month, selling only 201 units, a decrease of 50 units from the previous month. Its cumulative sales for the first six months reached 2,086 units. The Mitsubishi Attrage ranked last with 104 units sold, a slight decrease from 107 units in May, bringing its cumulative sales to 717 units. Meanwhile, Kia Soluto continued to not disclose its sales figures in the Vietnam market.
Compared to the same period in 2025, purchasing power in the B-segment sedan segment continued to decline. Excluding the Kia Soluto, as Thaco stopped reporting sales data from early 2026, the total sales volume for the remaining five models reached 13,466 units in the first half of the year, a decrease of approximately 15% from 15,923 units sold during the same period last year.

The Toyota Vios continues to maintain the largest lead over its rivals, attributed to its stable customer base and low operating costs. Additionally, consistent promotional programs implemented throughout the first half of the year have helped Toyota's sedan retain its competitive edge.
However, the Honda City's breakthrough performance in June indicates that competition among the leading group remains highly volatile. Meanwhile, the Mazda2 continues to hold its third position, while the Hyundai Accent shows no clear signs of recovery.
Although overall segment sales rebounded after two consecutive months of decline, the increase was primarily driven by one model. This suggests that B-segment sedan purchasing power remains unstable, especially as crossovers and urban electric vehicles offer more options at similar price points and continue to attract buyers.
