The new generation BMW i3 builds on the success of the iX3, the German automaker's first self-developed and produced electric vehicle. It is also the first model to adopt the new Neue Klasse design language.
Leading the lineup is the i3 50 xDrive, which features two electric motors delivering a total output of 463 horsepower and 645 Nm of torque, with all-wheel drive. While the German automaker has not yet disclosed battery capacity, it states the car offers a 600 km range on a full charge. The i3 benefits from an 800V electrical architecture, supporting fast charging up to 400 kW, though specific charging times have not been revealed.
The i3's suspension system includes a five-link rear suspension and refined stabilizer bars. Customers can also opt for the adaptive M sports suspension. The braking system, primarily handled by the electric motors through regenerative braking, is complemented by BMW's soft-stop system, designed for smoother, more natural vehicle stops than traditional brakes. Physical brakes engage during extreme driving conditions or emergencies.
The new generation i3 features what the automaker calls a "2.5-box" design. It has a long wheelbase, short front and rear overhangs, and clean, sharp lines. The kidney grille has evolved, integrating with BMW's distinctive lighting system. The taillight cluster emphasizes width and mirrors the aggressive fender shape.
The i3's interior is future-oriented and focuses on practicality. A distinctive two-spoke steering wheel stands out. In front of the driver, BMW's panoramic vision display projects key information into the line of sight, complemented by a 3D head-up display. A 17,9-inch infotainment touchscreen serves as a central feature.

The new generation i3 is equipped with numerous technologies, including BMW's latest iDrive system, an integrated AI assistant, and a digital key function. The car also utilizes a four-zone electrical architecture, which simplifies wiring, reduces weight, and improves overall efficiency.
According to the plan, mass production of the new generation BMW i3 will commence from august, with customer deliveries expected by the end of Q3.
Two prominent features of the new BMW i3 are its electric performance and bold design. With an operating range of up to 600 km, powerful output, and BMW's proven reputation for chassis refinement, the i3 is poised to redefine the concept of an electric sports sedan.
