On 24/2 on Road 6 in Mai Chau, a driver narrowly avoided a collision. A bus swerved into the oncoming lane to overtake amidst dense fog. The dashcam driver, with poor visibility, braked and stopped, allowing the bus to return to its lane.
Drivers must avoid reckless overtaking and lane encroachment, especially in adverse weather like fog, which limits visibility. Such actions, particularly by a bus carrying many passengers, increase accident risk.
Under Decree 168/2024 on road traffic penalties, drivers caught overtaking in areas with limited visibility face a fine of 4-6 million VND and a deduction of two points from their driving license. If this maneuver causes an accident, penalties escalate to a fine of 20-22 million VND and a deduction of 10 points.
