BYD and KFC China signed a strategic cooperation agreement on 8/4 at BYD's headquarters in Shenzhen. This partnership aims to integrate KFC's drive-thru service into BYD's modern mobile ecosystem, focusing on in-car ordering and fast-charging infrastructure at restaurant locations. Both companies are working to create a "one-stop fueling for people and car in nine minutes" scenario.
Under the agreement, BYD will introduce KFC's smart in-car ordering function on the Fang Cheng Bao Ti7 model, with plans to gradually expand it to more mainstream vehicle models across the group. Users can complete food selection, payment, and pickup reservations via voice commands while driving.
The in-car system will also enable synchronization between the driving route and the food pickup process. As a vehicle approaches a restaurant, the system will automatically activate a pickup reminder, providing a wait-free experience.

This collaboration will integrate BYD's fast-charging technology into several KFC drive-thru locations nationwide. When users arrive at these restaurants, they can plug in their vehicles for charging while collecting their food. With BYD's second-generation Blade battery and fast-charging technology, vehicles can charge from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes – approximately the time needed for a quick meal.
BYD has already built over 5,000 fast-charging stations nationwide. In early April, the company inaugurated its latest fast-charging station at a highway service area in Lanzhou, Gansu province. Its network now covers 297 cities across China.
This deployment milestone follows a period of rapid construction, with BYD's fast-charging stations expanding quickly by the end of March. This rapid expansion is driven by the company's stated goal to establish 20,000 fast-charging stations nationwide by the end of 2026. This total includes approximately 18,000 commercial stations being built in collaboration with local charging network operators.
The remaining 2,000 stations will be dedicated highway fast-charging stations. BYD anticipates deploying one station approximately every 100 km along China's highway routes.
