The all-electric Ford Bronco, a product of the JMC-Ford joint venture, rolled off the production line on 12/12, marking the 200,000th vehicle produced at the factory. This model is set to enter the Chinese market with a starting price of 229,800 yuan (USD 32,560).
The electric Ford Bronco is an SUV developed specifically for the Chinese market. It aims to compete in the rapidly growing segment of new energy vehicle (NEV) crossovers that offer off-road capabilities. Pre-orders for both the battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended range electric vehicle (EREV) versions began on 18/11. The top-tier Bronco is priced at 282,800 yuan (USD 40,070).

The electric Bronco features a distinctive boxy body and prominent Bronco lettering on its front fascia. It is equipped with large front and rear bumpers and plastic trim around the wheel arches. A spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, and the vehicle incorporates hidden door handles.
This new SUV is generously sized, with dimensions of 5,025 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height, complemented by a 2,950 mm wheelbase. It offers a minimum ground clearance of 220 mm. Inside, the cabin is equipped with a 15,6-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a 70-inch augmented reality head-up display. Additional amenities include a 7,5-liter refrigerator, 21 speakers, 10 airbags, and a panoramic sunroof. The vehicle accommodates five occupants.
The Ford Bronco BEV variant is powered by two electric motors, delivering a total output of 445 horsepower. A 105,4 kWh LFP battery provides an estimated range of 650 km. The EREV version features a 1,5-liter internal combustion engine with 148 horsepower. This engine powers a 43,7 kWh BYD Blade battery, offering an electric range of 220 km. Its two electric motors generate 416 horsepower, resulting in a combined range of 1,220 km.
The JMC-Ford manufacturing plant in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, boasts a 98% automation level, employing 600 industrial robots. The factory has a maximum annual production capacity of 300,000 units and assembles various Ford, Lincoln, and JMC models.
This year, Ford and JMC invested 300 million yuan (USD 42,5 million) to upgrade the production line for the Ford Bronco EV. The commencement of production marks a significant milestone for the joint venture. This Ford-branded SUV is set to compete with models such as the Aito M8, Li Auto L9, Denza N9, and other Chinese electric vehicles.
While Ford plans to produce a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of the Bronco at its Valencia assembly plant in Spain for the European market, the American automaker has no current plans to launch an electric version in the US.
