The American Association of State Troopers (AAST) recently announced the results of its 13th annual "America's Best Looking Cruiser" competition. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)'s Ford Mustang, featuring a striking black and gold-brown color scheme, secured the overall victory, marking the fourth consecutive win for the state. This triumph came after a dramatic late surge in voting, despite Michigan leading for most of the competition, which garnered over 360,000 votes nationwide.
The winning photograph showcases a 2023 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT positioned in front of the iconic Sunshine Skyway bridge. The bridge was illuminated with red, white, and blue lights, celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

An AAST representative humorously commented on the thrilling conclusion: "It must be hunting season in Florida, because they successfully shot down the 'Blue Goose'"—a nickname for Michigan State Police's distinctive blue patrol cars.
When voting closed, Florida topped the polls with 52,249 votes, significantly surpassing Michigan, which placed second with 37,654 votes. Georgia finished third with 34,933 votes, while Ohio and Kentucky rounded out the top 5. A total of 360,433 votes were cast across all participating states. Oregon received the least attention, collecting only 185 votes.

With this victory, Florida once again claimed the "America's Best Looking Cruiser" award. The image of the winning Mustang will grace the cover of the "America's Best Looking Cruiser 2027" wall calendar. All proceeds from calendar sales will be directed to the AAST fund, providing educational scholarships for children of member patrol officers.
If this championship streak continues, organizers might consider renaming the calendar to the "Florida Police Car Calendar."
