American automaker Ford launched the Mustang Mach-E at an event commemorating the company's 30 years in Vietnam. This crossover is Ford's first electric vehicle model in Vietnam, imported directly from the US. With the Explorer discontinued and no plans to resume imports, the Mustang Mach-E is the sole model imported from the US.

In the Vietnamese market, the Mustang Mach-E is available in a Premium AWD version priced at 2.599 billion VND. A special price of 2.499 billion VND is offered to the first 300 customers. The vehicle's price is calculated based on a 70% import tax for electric vehicles. Vietnam and the US are currently discussing import tariffs on goods.
The vehicle is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, delivering a combined output of 395 horsepower and 676 Nm of torque. It features all-wheel drive. The car is fitted with an 88 kWh lithium-ion battery pack providing a range of 550 km according to the manufacturer's tests, translating to a consumption of 16 kWh/100 km. The battery supports 150 kW DC fast charging, enabling charging from 10% to 80% in 36 minutes. It also supports 11 kW AC charging, taking 6 hours to charge from 10% to 80%.
The new Mustang Mach-E is a crossover with a sporty coupe style and is a high-performance electric vehicle. It measures 4,713 mm in length, 1,881 mm in width, and 1,627 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,984 mm. These dimensions are comparable to the VinFast VF 8, which measures 4,750 x 1,900 x 1,660 mm with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

The Mustang Mach-E's design is distinctly sporty, with a sloping C-pillar and a full-width grille. The LED headlights, along with the three-stripe daytime running lights, are similar to the gas-powered coupe version. Like the Mustang, the Mach-E also uses the Mustang horse emblem instead of the Ford logo. It features an active grille shutter and 19-inch wheels.
The Ford model's interior is simple yet modern. Contrast stitching on the seats and dashboard emphasizes the sporty character of this line. Standard features include a 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are also supported.
Ford's new electric vehicle is equipped with a range of both passive and active safety technologies. The ADAS driver-assistance system includes features such as: front collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, distraction mitigation system, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.

Similar to other foreign automakers in Vietnam, Ford is not developing its own charging station network but is installing chargers at its dealerships, currently numbering 53. The company will also collaborate with charging station providers to increase this number to 275. Customers can also charge at home using the included charger.
With a price tag of 2.6 billion VND, the Mustang Mach-E will likely remain a niche vehicle in Vietnam, aimed at affluent buyers. For Ford, as well as many other American automakers, their electric vehicle strategy is becoming uncertain due to policy changes since Mr. Trump returned to the presidency. Therefore, it's difficult for the company to set sales targets for zero-emission vehicles in smaller markets like Vietnam.
