Honda UC3 scarce at dealerships

In early August, many Honda dealerships lacked immediate stock of the UC3 or had limited versions available, with vehicle prices exceeding suggested retail by approximately 1-3 million dong.

The first batches of Honda UC3 electric vehicles were released in Vietnam in July. By early August, the supply of this model, imported from Thailand, remained quite limited. Consequently, many authorized Honda Exclusive Authorized Dealers (HEAD) in TP HCM are currently experiencing significant shortages.

At numerous HEAD locations, most display vehicles have already been claimed by customers awaiting license plate registration. While some dealerships do have vehicles, specific colors, such as white or the special edition black, are not readily available for immediate delivery.

For unavailable versions, sales consultants at HEAD locations stated they are unsure when stock will be replenished, as availability depends entirely on the factory's supply. If a customer expresses interest, the dealership records their information and will contact them once the desired model becomes available.

Regarding pricing, the Honda UC3 currently varies across dealerships. For instance, a HEAD in Gia Dinh ward sells the UC3 for 56-60 million dong, covering versions from standard (white, blue) to special (black). Compared to the suggested retail prices of 56,5-57,9 million dong, the lower-end version sees a slight reduction of 500,000 dong, while the higher-end version's price increases by 2 million dong.

At a HEAD in Thu Duc ward, the UC3 is sold to customers for approximately 60-61 million dong, which is about 2-3 million dong higher than the suggested retail price.

Unlike conventional gasoline scooters, Honda currently sells electric motorcycles through only 83 of its over 800 total HEAD locations nationwide. The UC3 marks Honda's third electric motorcycle model introduced to the market, following the ICON e: and CUV e:.

Honda is offering the UC3 at an introductory promotional price during its initial phase. The vehicle's original prices are 80 million dong for the standard edition and 81,4 million dong for the special edition. Current models delivered to customers are imported from Thailand, but Honda Vietnam plans to localize UC3 production starting in late 2026.

The Honda UC3 is currently Vietnam's most expensive mainstream electric motorcycle. It faces no direct competitors in its segment.

The UC3 is sold exclusively with a battery, which customers can charge at home or at charging stations installed at HEAD locations. The vehicle's LFP battery has a capacity of 3,174 kWh, making it the first Honda model in Southeast Asia to feature this battery type.

The Honda UC3's battery is fixed beneath the floorboard, meeting IP67 waterproofing standards and UNR136 safety standards for batteries and electrical systems. Its stated operating range is 120 km per full charge. The vehicle also incorporates a regenerative braking system, which helps recover energy during operation.

The UC3 utilizes the CHAdeMO charging standard. The included 1.200 W charger allows for a fast charge from 0-100% in approximately 4 hours and from 20-80% in approximately 2 hours.

The UC3 electric motorcycle is equipped with a rear-wheel electric motor, delivering 8 horsepower and 22 Nm of torque. It offers three riding modes: Standard, Sport, and ECON. Additionally, the vehicle includes a reverse gear, and its stated top speed is 80 km/h.
