The incident occurred at an open crossing on National Highway 1 in Dong Van, approximately 900 meters south of Dong Van railway station. Several pedestrians were crossing the road. While two women had not yet finished crossing the designated pedestrian path, a train sounded its horn. Despite the warning, a young woman walking behind them climbed over the barrier and continued across the railway tracks. The train approached just as she stepped onto the tracks, resulting in a fatal accident. The victim died at the scene.

Pedestrians should never climb fences or barriers to cross railway tracks, as this poses a high safety risk. Trains are highly dangerous, especially at close range, as demonstrated in the video. Due to their massive weight and inertia, trains require a very long braking distance and cannot stop suddenly. A reckless decision made in mere seconds can cost a life.

The traffic layout at the U-turn opening on the national highway includes pedestrian crosswalk markings. However, the other side of this crossing is immediately adjacent to the railway tracks and lacks a sidewalk. Therefore, pedestrians should avoid using this path as a shortcut across the railway.

Local residents in the area report that many workers frequently take a shortcut across the railway tracks to access factories in the industrial zone.
