The Maextro S800 Grand Design, a new special edition sedan from the JAC and Huawei joint venture, aims to challenge established luxury brands. Priced at approximately 294,000 USD, this vehicle, with its gold-plated exterior and advanced Huawei driver assistance system, signals China's ambition to enter the ultra-luxury sedan segment, a market traditionally dominated by British and German automakers.

The special edition S800 Grand Design features an emerald green and silver two-tone exterior. Gold-plated details enhance its luxurious appearance, including the hood logo, body trim, "Maextro" lettering, and wheels.
Measuring 5,480 mm in length with a 3,370 mm wheelbase, the S800 sedan offers a spacious interior. It comes in a 4-seat configuration, with the second row designed to provide an executive experience, complete with business-class style seating.
While interior images are not yet available, Maextro confirms the cabin design harmonizes with the exterior through subtle gold accents. The special edition inherits luxurious features from the standard S800, such as a three-screen infotainment system, zero-gravity business class seats, a retractable laser projection screen, and a 43-speaker Huawei sound system.
Beyond aesthetics, the Grand Design package includes significant hardware upgrades. The special edition S800 features a roof-mounted 896 LiDAR system and a B-pillar integrated camera. These systems operate on Huawei's latest Qiankun ADS 5.0 driver assistance platform.

The S800 Grand Design offers two powertrain options: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or an extended range electric vehicle (EREV) system. The BEV variant uses two electric motors, providing four-wheel drive with a total output of 523 horsepower and a 97 kWh battery pack. The EREV variant combines a 1,5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with three electric motors and a 63 kWh battery pack.
Sales for the Maextro S800 Grand Design are slated to begin in China in june, with official pricing to be announced closer to the launch. A Huawei executive previously indicated a price of approximately 294,000 USD. This positions it significantly above the standard S800's 104,000 USD price tag, yet still considerably below the Rolls-Royce Ghost, which retails for 738,600 USD in the Chinese market.
