Tomorrow, VinFast launches new generation VF 8

The D-segment SUV model receives an upgraded generation after about 4 years on the market, expected to remain a purely electric vehicle, launching on 20/5.

Vietnam will be the first market where VinFast introduces the new generation of its VF 8. This D-segment purely electric SUV first debuted in 2022. Four years ago, the VF 8 was positioned as the Vietnamese automaker's approach to the global electric vehicle market, available in North America, Europe, and Vietnam.

Last week, initial images of the 2027 VF 8 appeared on social media, showing the vehicle undergoing testing at the Hai Phong factory before its market release. Based on these leaked images, many users believe the vehicle remains purely electric, as the exterior only features a charging port.

The new generation VinFast VF 8 is expected to utilize the automaker's latest chassis platform, which will be applied to future vehicle lines. Notably, a new electrical-electronic architecture, already implemented in some recently launched models, is a key highlight. Many anticipate significant changes in the interior space and layout, mirroring the exterior design differences.

The overall design of the new VF 8 maintains its SUV styling, with a longer wheelbase than its predecessor. The front and rear designs have been completely revised. The front features a prominent grille with large black sections, creating a commanding presence and optimizing aerodynamics. At the center is VinFast's familiar wing-shaped LED daytime running lights. The main lighting system is positioned high on both sides, with fog lights below.

On the side, the charging port has been moved to the right, rather than the left, for owner convenience during recharging. The wheel design has also been updated. Large black sections are repeated in the rear design, accompanied by new lighting graphics. The characteristic wing-shaped LED strip remains a key identifier, consistent with the front design.

The VinFast VF 8 previously received a minor upgrade in 2024, primarily involving exterior color schemes. It offered two generations, Eco (with a 562 km range) and Plus (with a 457 km range), priced at 1.019 billion dong and 1.199 billion dong respectively. With this new generation, the D-segment SUV is expected to have a more competitive price, projected to be under 1 billion dong, before incentives.
