At an intersection, a man on a motorcycle, not wearing a helmet, sped through as the traffic light transitioned from green to yellow, crashing into a bus. The forceful impact knocked the man onto the road, leaving him motionless. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.
Road safety: Vehicles must reduce speed when approaching intersections. Rushing through during the final seconds of a green light creates significant safety risks for the driver and others. Furthermore, motorcycle riders are legally required to wear helmets.
According to Decree 168/2024, motorcycle riders who fail to comply with traffic signals by running a yellow light face a fine of 4-6 million VND and a deduction of 4 points from their driving license. If this violation causes an accident, the penalty increases to 10-14 million VND and a 10-point deduction. Moreover, not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle incurs a fine of 400,000-600,000 VND.
