The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 stands out with its innovative "fold-open" technologies, offering both convenience and advanced safety features. This two-door model integrates smart design elements, such as a rear emblem that conceals the reverse camera and an automatic seat belt presenter, enhancing the driving experience.
A notable feature is the rear emblem, which automatically flips up to reveal the integrated reverse camera. This clever design keeps the lens free from dirt and debris, activating automatically when the driver shifts into reverse. The emblem also functions as an electronic trunk release handle, allowing for hands-free access to the trunk. This dual-purpose design is common across many modern Mercedes coupe and sedan models, providing both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
Another convenience is the automatic seat belt presenter. As a driver settles into the seat, a robotic arm extends to offer the seat belt, making it easier to reach in a two-door vehicle. This system also incorporates Pre-Safe technology, which automatically tightens the seat belt in anticipation of an imminent collision, enhancing occupant safety.

Under the hood, the Mercedes CLE 53 AMG is powered by a three-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine, supported by a 48V hybrid system. This powertrain delivers 443 horsepower, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. AMG has also fine-tuned the CLE’s adaptive suspension, providing a performance-oriented setup with sport and sport+ driving modes. During testing by Car and Driver, the CLE 53 coupe accelerated from 0-97 km/h in just 3,5 seconds, with the convertible expected to be slightly slower.
The CLE 53’s interior mirrors the layout of the CLE line, featuring two spacious front seats and a smaller rear bench. The AMG version adds a sporty touch with carbon fiber trim, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and red stitching. For the convertible model, an electrically controlled wind deflector can be raised behind the rear headrests to minimize wind intrusion. Additionally, a pair of neck warmers integrated into the front seats provide comfort when outside temperatures drop, but drivers still wish to enjoy top-down motoring.
Inside, an 11,9-inch infotainment screen extends from the center console to the three air vents on the dashboard, showcasing Mercedes’ latest MBUX software. A separate 12,3-inch screen behind the steering wheel displays the CLE 53’s digital gauges.
Standard safety features for the CLE 53 include automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and driver attention monitoring. Optional safety enhancements such as adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring are also available.
In the United States, the 2026 Mercedes-AMG CLE is priced from USD 77,450, with prices reaching up to USD 87,800 depending on the version and selected options. Available trim levels include Exclusive, Pinnacle, and Manufaktur Edition. The top-tier Pinnacle trim adds a head-up display, augmented reality navigation, upgraded headlights, and access to a wider range of third-party applications through the MBUX infotainment system.
