A collision between a 600cc motorcycle and a BMW occurred at an intersection in North Delta, a town south of Vancouver, on 9/5. The incident was captured on camera, confirming the unusual sight of the motorcycle suspended on a traffic light pole.
The BMW was making a left turn at the intersection as the motorcycle approached at high speed. The biker applied emergency brakes, causing the rear wheel to lift, and the impact with the car effectively launched the motorcycle airborne.
The BMW sustained significant damage in the middle of the intersection. Meanwhile, the Suzuki GSX-R600 remained suspended atop the traffic light pole, caught by its front forks and wheel. Debris from the collision was scattered across the roadway.
The motorcycle rider suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the BMW was unharmed.

A former police sergeant, now an instructor at a motorcycle training center in Vancouver, stated that investigators will likely reconstruct the accident, analyzing factors such as speed and impact angle. He noted that despite video footage, police cannot rely solely on it for their findings.
He added that while speed appears to be a factor, it may not be the sole cause of the accident. "The reality is you can still get injured even when traveling much slower if you lack the skills to avoid obstacles," he explained.
