On 2/3, a red Dodge Charger was observed traveling at 80 mph (128 km/h) in a 55 mph (88 km/h) zone on highway 118 in Arkansas, prompting a police pursuit.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Thalia Jones, refused to stop and subsequently drove into the oncoming lane. At this point, a police officer executed a pit maneuver, causing the Dodge to swerve onto the right shoulder and overturn.
From the overturned vehicle, a three-year-old boy emerged, with his mother crawling out behind him. The child then ran towards the officers.
As the mother was handcuffed, an officer picked up the child and reprimanded the woman for endangering her son's life. Miraculously, both mother and child were unharmed. The dashcam video of the incident was released this week.
When questioned about fleeing, Jones stated she was en route to her mother's house. She denied speeding, claiming she fled because she did not possess a valid driver's license.
Jones now faces multiple charges, including reckless driving, fleeing, first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, driving with a suspended license, and unauthorized use of another's property for criminal activity. The vehicle was reportedly owned by Jones's boyfriend.
