The incident involved a specialized hauler, a type of heavy-duty vehicle designed to transport construction machinery. The driver of this specialized hauler fully encroached on the oncoming lane to overtake a vehicle equipped with a dashcam. As it approached a curve, an oncoming tractor-trailer appeared, forcing the specialized hauler's driver to swerve abruptly back into their lane. Losing control, the specialized hauler plunged into a roadside drainage ditch.

Drivers must avoid encroaching on other lanes to overtake when safety cannot be guaranteed. This is particularly crucial for large vehicles like specialized haulers, which are difficult to maneuver in sudden situations. Reckless overtaking poses significant safety risks to both the driver and other road users.

According to Decree 168/2024 on penalties for road traffic violations, improper overtaking by an automobile carries a fine of 4-6 million VND and results in 2 demerit points on the driver's license.
