A vehicle owner in Phu Tho was recently hit with a staggering 474,6 million dong fine for 96 traffic violations, primarily speeding, highlighting the severe consequences of persistent disregard for traffic laws in 2026.

On 12/8, the Phu Tho Provincial Traffic Police Department issued an administrative violation record to a 47-year-old driver residing in Xuan Lung. AI-powered surveillance cameras along the Nguyen Tat Thanh route captured the vehicle committing 96 offenses, predominantly exceeding speed limits. These violations occurred at various times. Further investigation revealed three additional infractions: operating without valid compulsory civil liability insurance, driving a vehicle lacking a safety inspection and environmental protection certificate, and failing to complete procedures for new license plates and vehicle registration after a change of ownership. The total penalty for these violations amounted to 474,6 million dong.

Another case saw a driver and vehicle owner collectively fined 118,5 million dong for speeding and operating without proper documentation. On 21/4, Highway Traffic Police Team 6 detected a car exceeding the speed limit by 10 to 20 km/h on the Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao expressway. The driver was found to be unlicensed and lacked vehicle registration, incurring a 26,5 million dong fine. The vehicle owner faced a 58 million dong penalty for entrusting the vehicle to an unqualified driver and an additional 34 million dong for allowing an unregistered vehicle to operate. The total fine for both the driver and owner was 118,5 million dong. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Similarly, a truck driver and owner received a combined fine of 126 million dong for overloading and lacking essential documents. On 19/4, traffic police on the Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao expressway stopped a truck with signs of violations. The driver was cited for exceeding the permissible cargo height, driving without vehicle registration, and lacking a driver's license, resulting in a 24 million dong fine. The owner was penalized 58 million dong for entrusting the vehicle to an unqualified driver, 10 million dong for an employee's violation, and 34 million dong for operating an unregistered vehicle. The total fine for both the driver and owner was 126 million dong. Authorities mandated the cargo be offloaded to comply with regulations and impounded the vehicle for 7 days.

Passenger overloading also led to significant fines. On 10/2, Hai Phong traffic police inspected a bus on the Ha Giang - Hai Phong route. The bus was carrying 72 passengers, significantly exceeding its licensed capacity of 43 people, which includes 41 berths, one seat, and one driver. The driver was fined for the overloading offense, and the vehicle owner was also penalized for allowing an employee to commit the violation. The total fine for both the driver and owner reached 193,5 million dong. Additionally, the owner's vehicle badge was revoked for two months, and the driver incurred a deduction of 4 points from their driver's license.
