Smart #2 - two-seater electric car revealed

The production version of the micro electric vehicle has revealed its legal filings in China, featuring an 80 horsepower electric motor and a 300-kilometer operating range.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently published its latest registration list, unveiling detailed specifications for the Smart #2. This two-seater micro electric vehicle (EV) is a collaborative product between Geely and Mercedes, positioned as a compact urban EV.

A concept version of this vehicle was previously displayed at the Auto China 2026 exhibition.

Produced by Zhejiang Haoqing Automotive, the Smart #2 aims to optimize space for personal urban mobility. The vehicle offers two length options: 2.751 mm and 2.764 mm. Both versions share a width of 1.669 mm, a height of 1.555 mm, and a wheelbase of 1.875 mm.

The vehicle's curb weight is 1.130 kg, and its gross weight is 1.315 kg. According to the manufacturer, the Smart #2 has a top speed of 140 km/h.

Regarding its powertrain, the Smart #2 is equipped with an 80 horsepower electric motor. Power is supplied by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, with cells manufactured by CATL and final assembly handled by Geely.

Previous reports indicate the vehicle uses a 35,7 kWh battery, providing a 300-kilometer range on one full charge.

For safety, the Smart #2 comes standard with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an event data recorder (EDR). An electronic toll collection (ETC) system is available as an option.

Registration data also reveals extensive personalization options for this micro EV. Customers can choose from two tire and wheel sizes: 165/65 R15, 185/60 R15 or 185/50 R16, 205/45 R16.
