A Zeekr 7X was parked at a charging station in Ninh Ba city on 9/8. The vehicle was not plugged in. Its hood was open, and a man, seemingly the driver, was inspecting the front of the car before bending down to look underneath. Immediately after, an explosion occurred, with a flash of fire emanating from beneath the vehicle.

A nearby driver quickly unplugged their car and drove away. Just 10 seconds later, continuous explosions sounded, and fire with black smoke billowed from beneath the Zeekr. Fortunately, no one suffered injuries, and no other vehicles sustained damage.

Zeekr stated it immediately dispatched staff to the scene and formed a task force to assist with the aftermath. Preliminary findings indicated the vehicle had recently been involved in a serious accident and had not undergone inspection or repair by an officially authorized service center. Zeekr is cooperating with the fire department and relevant agencies to investigate the cause of the incident.

According to Autohome, this incident serves as a warning for all electric vehicle owners. After a collision, electric vehicles can sustain invisible damage to high-voltage systems and batteries. Standard repair shops often lack the necessary equipment to detect such issues. Unauthorized disassembly and repair of high-voltage components is like setting a time bomb. Therefore, experts at authorized service centers must conduct a comprehensive inspection and assessment.

In China, the Zeekr 7X is sold in three powertrain versions. The two lower-tier rear-wheel drive (RWD) models offer 416 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, with ranges of 480 km (75 kWh battery) and 615 km (100 kWh battery), respectively.

The all-wheel drive (AWD) version features a motor with 637 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque, providing a range of 543 km (100 kWh battery). All versions come with an air suspension system. Prices range from 229,900 to 269,800 Chinese yuan (31,800-37,400 USD).
