A road rage incident occurred on a busy street when a young man on a motorcycle, not wearing a helmet, repeatedly braked and swerved in front of a taxi, preventing the car from overtaking. After the taxi managed to get ahead, its driver immediately swerved left, colliding with the motorcyclist and causing him to fall onto the road.
Fortunately, the collision did not result in serious injuries. The motorcyclist quickly got up, crashed his vehicle into another motorcycle, and then pursued the taxi.
When conflicts arise on the road, drivers must remain calm. It is crucial to record the incident and contact authorities for resolution, rather than engaging in aggressive driving or retaliation.
Decree 168/2024 stipulates severe penalties for reckless driving. Car drivers who swerve erratically on the road face fines of 40-50 million VND. If such actions cause an accident, the fine increases to 50-70 million VND. For motorcyclists, reckless driving incurs fines of 8-10 million VND, rising to 10-14 million VND if an accident occurs. Additionally, drivers may have their licenses revoked for 10-12 months, face criminal charges, and have their vehicles confiscated if they re-offend. Furthermore, motorcyclists not wearing helmets are subject to fines ranging from 400,000-600,000 VND.
A similar incident occurred on 3/7 on Lang Ha street, Hanoi, where a taxi driver, following a collision, forced another car to stop and then assaulted its driver.
