Over the past 30 years, Toyota has contributed to the foundation of the Vietnamese auto industry. In the last five years, the company has pioneered the popularization of electrified vehicles, starting with the launch of the Corolla Cross HEV in 2020. Subsequently, Toyota introduced hybrid versions of various models, including the Camry, Corolla Altis, Yaris Cross, Innova Cross, and Alphard, which were well-received by the market.
With a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, Toyota has adopted a Multi-Pathway approach to development, rather than focusing solely on electric vehicles. The company aims to reduce carbon emissions through diverse solutions tailored to each market's infrastructure, industry status, and consumer needs.

Globally, Toyota offers a range of solutions: hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), battery electric vehicles (BEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), along with various alternative energy options. In the Vietnamese market, Toyota has chosen hybrid vehicles and biofuel development to immediately reduce CO2 emissions, without waiting for charging station infrastructure or changes in consumer driving habits.

In the first half of 2025, Toyota hybrid vehicle sales reached 3,444 units, doubling compared to the same period last year, indicating that this type of vehicle is becoming a considerable option for modern consumers. After five years of selling hybrid vehicles, Toyota has delivered a total of 17,268 units to the market. Compared to traditional internal combustion engines, Toyota hybrid vehicles can save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions by 1.5 to two times, without requiring special maintenance. Compared to fully electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles do not require charging station infrastructure while still providing an electric driving experience under certain operating conditions.
The 1 million vehicle sales milestone, combined with a sustainable development strategy, represents an unprecedented achievement in the Vietnamese market over the past decades. Nakano Keita, General Director of Toyota Vietnam, stated, "Toyota is transforming from an automobile manufacturer into a mobility solutions company. We are continually striving to earn greater trust from our customers and society".
