Two VinFast models achieve 5-star safety rating

Bharat NCAP awarded a 5-star safety rating to the VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 duo after they successfully passed a series of stringent tests by the organization on 21/1.

The 5-star safety certification is the highest rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) in India, indicating a vehicle's safety after passing a series of technical tests.

According to Bharat NCAP's test results, both the VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 received 5-star ratings in two core categories. Specifically, the VF 6 scored 27,13/32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 44,41/49 points for child occupant protection (COP). The VF 7 achieved 28,54/32 points for AOP and 45,25/49 points for COP. These scores highlight the high level of safety for both adults and children in these two models.

In crash tests, the VinFast duo also demonstrated effective safety. For frontal impacts, the head, neck, and thigh protection scores for both the driver and passengers in the VF 6 and VF 7 all reached 4 points, the maximum on Bharat NCAP's assessment scale. In side impacts, both models achieved perfect scores: 16/16 for adults and 8/8 for children.

Specifically, in the side pole impact test, the head injury assessment scores for the VF 6 and VF 7 were 109 and 131 respectively, significantly lower than the danger threshold of 700, according to Bharat NCAP standards.

Bharat NCAP is a vehicle safety assessment program implemented by the Indian government, developed based on international practices such as NCAP Global. This program focuses on evaluating occupant protection through various crash tests, assigning safety ratings from three to five stars.

Previously, VinFast models also received positive assessments from regional safety organizations. For example, the VF 8 achieved a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP, outperforming more than 15 automakers to win five out of six of the organization's safety awards in 2024.

Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, stated that the 5-star safety rating for the VF 6 and VF 7 is a significant milestone, confirming the high quality and safety standards of VinFast electric vehicles in one of the world's largest automotive markets. "The results show that VinFast electric models are developed on a robust technical platform, meeting strict safety assessment requirements," said the CEO of VinFast India.

In India, the VF 6 and VF 7 are assembled at the company's plant in Tamil Nadu state, utilizing a dedicated electric vehicle chassis platform. The two models feature a range of notable equipment, including: seven airbags, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automatic emergency braking, emergency lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

The electric SUV duo is part of the electric vehicle ecosystem VinFast is establishing in India, which includes domestic production, a retail network, charging infrastructure, and after-sales services, all aimed at ensuring a seamless user experience.
