The strong performance of the VinFast VF 6 and Mitsubishi Xforce, the segment's best-selling duo in 2025, continued into january 2026. These two models accounted for nearly one-half of the total sales volume within the B-segment CUV segment.
Compared to december, most models in the segment experienced a decline in january. This reduction in demand is attributed to customers focusing their purchases in late 2025, driven by intensified promotional programs and the desire to complete vehicle registration before the Lunar New Year. Despite a nearly 30% drop in sales, the VF 6 maintained its leading position due to its significantly higher sales volume compared to its competitors.
In january, VinFast sold nearly 2,500 VF 6 vehicles, far surpassing its gasoline-powered rivals. The VF 6's distinct advantages include its versatility for personal and business use, low operating costs, and reduced registration fees (benefiting from a 100% registration fee incentive for electric vehicles).

The Xforce began 2026 successfully, retaining its status as the best-selling internal combustion engine vehicle in the segment. Mitsubishi's product appeals to the preferences of many Vietnamese customers who favor an established brand, an imported vehicle with a competitive price similar to locally assembled cars, and a wealth of convenience features and technology.
The biggest surprise in early 2026 was the Hyundai Creta surpassing the Toyota Yaris Cross to enter the top three best-selling products in the segment. Previously, these positions were consistently held by the VF 6, Xforce, and the Toyota model. However, the sales difference between the Creta and its Japanese competitor was not substantial, with the Creta selling more than 70 additional vehicles.
The Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, and Mazda CX-3 trio continued to rank among the slowest-selling models in the segment. Beyond their weaker appeal, these models also offered fewer promotions compared to their top-tier rivals, who frequently provided 50-100% registration fee incentives.
The B-segment CUV segment also includes models such as the Lynk & Co 06, BYD Atto 2, Geely Coolray, and Skoda Kushaq; however, their manufacturers do not disclose sales data.
