According to the sales report from VAMM (Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers) for the first half of 2026, total motorcycle sales in the market reached 1,367,552 units. This figure is 83,261 units higher than the same period in 2025, representing a 6.48% growth rate. On average, the Vietnamese market consumed 227,925 motorcycles each month, equivalent to 5,2 transactions every minute.
Analyzing Q2, the entire market recorded 638,431 units delivered. Compared to Q1, consumption decreased by 12.4%, a reduction of 90,690 units. However, when compared to Q2 2025, which saw 611,236 units sold, sales for Q2 this year grew by 4.4%.

Data compiled for the first 6 months of the year indicates that the sales chart for the two-wheeled vehicle market in 2026 is above 2025 levels. The sales decrease from Q1 to Q2 is a cyclical market phenomenon and does not alter the cumulative growth momentum in the first half of the year.
VAMM comprises 5 members: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, SYM, and Piaggio, which includes the brands Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi. These manufacturers currently distribute a total of 108 products to the market, with 106 gasoline models and only hai electric models (Honda ICON e: and Yamaha Neo's).
Before VinFast's entry, VAMM's sales represented the entire Vietnamese motorcycle market. However, in the current market, VAMM primarily represents the gasoline motorcycle business segment in Vietnam.
This growth is a bright spot for the gasoline motorcycle segment, especially as the Vietnamese motorcycle market has been entering a saturation phase in recent years and faces increasing competition from the trend towards electric motorcycles.
Gasoline motorcycles, with advantages in range, instant refueling capability, heavy load capacity, and high speed attainment, remain an important choice for consumers. This is particularly true in markets that do not yet demand high low-emission zones.
