Speeding and a lack of driver focus often lead to sudden braking and self-inflicted falls, especially for motorbike riders. While car occupants benefit from safety belts and airbags during abrupt stops, motorbikes are prone to tipping over and lack similar safety technology. On 8/1, a similar incident on Cau Giay street in Ha Noi resulted in the death of a motorbike rider.
