Xuan Thien Group broke ground on the Nam Dinh green steel project in Nghia Hung district on 23/6. The complex, spanning over 400 hectares, will have a capacity of 9.5 million tons of steel per year and a total investment of 98 trillion VND.
The project will utilize electricity and natural gas, and eventually green hydrogen, for steel reduction. This replaces traditional coke-based steelmaking to minimize CO2 emissions and protect the environment.
The plants will primarily produce high-quality steel, including weather-resistant steel and extra-thick, large-format steel plates. These products will supply industries such as mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, wind turbine manufacturing, automotive body production, weapons manufacturing, and structural frames for high-rise buildings (over 25 stories). The complex aims to meet both domestic demand and export requirements. Key raw materials like pig iron and iron ore will be sourced from Xuan Thien's mines and processing plants in Angola and other African countries, ensuring a stable supply throughout the project's lifespan.
The first steel products are expected in June 2028, with project completion slated for June 2030. Once operational, the complex is projected to contribute approximately 20 trillion VND annually to the state budget and create over 21,000 jobs.

To maximize the project's effectiveness, the Deputy Prime Minister urged authorities at all levels to provide favorable conditions for its implementation. He stressed the importance of ensuring security, closely monitoring legal compliance, and protecting the environment. He also asked for continued focus on stabilizing and improving the lives of residents in the project area. The Deputy Prime Minister called upon the investor, construction units, and supervisory consultants to dedicate resources, expertise, and advanced technology to expedite construction and bring the project online quickly.
Nguyen Huy Hoang, General Director of Xuan Thien Nam Dinh, committed to using G7 technology, ensuring environmental protection, and focusing resources on safe, high-quality construction, aiming to complete the project 12 months ahead of schedule.
