The APU American International School System and American University in Vietnam (AUV) recently announced a scholarship program worth 30 million USD for Vietnamese students for the 2025-2026 period. This announcement was made at the latest graduation ceremony, held on the joint campus and attended by students, parents, and international guests.
This scholarship initiative aims to provide flexible financial support, with offerings ranging from 50% to 100% of tuition fees for APU graduates enrolling in AUV's bachelor's programs. These programs offer a direct pathway to master's and doctoral degrees at US universities, notably without requiring the GMAT or GRE.
APU graduates receive scholarship offers from many prestigious universities worldwide, including the University of California system (UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine), New York University, Stanford University, Arizona State University, University of Washington, University of Illinois, and University of Massachusetts in the US. In Canada, students received offers from the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. Australian institutions include The University of Sydney and Australian National University. Korea University and Yonsei University in Korea, and Waseda University and Nagoya University in Japan are also among the recipients.
The graduation ceremony, held on the 31-hectare campus, celebrated the theme "Conquering the Heights of Knowledge." This year, APU honored 84 high school graduates, with 95% achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher. A notable 28 students earned an outstanding GPA of 4.0, including two valedictorians and nine salutatorians. All graduates demonstrated exemplary conduct, academic excellence, and significant extracurricular involvement. Additionally, 14 11th-grade students qualified for early graduation, shortening their academic journey by one to two years.
Dr. Tran Nguyen Thy Binh, President of APU Education Development Group, emphasized the critical role of education in preparing Vietnamese students for global opportunities. She stated, "We expect students to not only have a strong academic foundation but also the ability to adapt, innovate, and compete internationally." Many APU graduates continue their studies or careers in the US, Europe, and other countries.

The school's curriculum extends beyond academics, focusing on developing critical thinking, teamwork, and multicultural adaptation skills. These are essential for students navigating a rapidly changing global education landscape and job market. Many APU and AUV alumni are employed at major technology corporations such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta. Some also engage in research, community service, and leadership skill development projects during their studies. The school plans to expand financial aid programs and educational partnerships to further enhance access to international education for Vietnamese students.
Professor Dr. John W. Rutherford, President of AUV, and Dr. Randy Bell, Principal of APU American International School, highlighted the students' remarkable achievements. Graduates excelled academically and made significant contributions in domestic and international competitions, as well as extracurricular and community activities.

Around 90% of APU alumni studying in the US achieve excellent results from their first semester and are recognized on the Dean's List. Many become teaching assistants for professors at prestigious universities, even as first- or second-year students. APU graduates can gain direct admission to many international universities without needing IELTS, SAT, ACT, or an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, with many receiving unconditional offers of admission. APU also offers the College Bridge Program (Dual Enrollment Program), a unique privilege allowing APU students to complete a bachelor's degree in approximately two years after high school graduation, while students from other schools typically need an SAT score above 90% to qualify.
APU is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training to teach a US-standard curriculum from preschool to 12th grade, and is accredited by Cognia and the Council of International Schools (CIS), two leading global educational organizations. For AUV students, the academic path is accelerated, allowing them to complete a bachelor's program in three to four years, then pursue a master's degree at international universities without GRE or GMAT.
