Central to the service package is GoGreen Plus Base, which offers a fixed fee and provides a default 10% emission reduction for eligible shipments.
According to DHL, this is one of the first logistics products to integrate direct emission reductions into standard shipping services on a large scale. GoGreen Plus Base applies a single price across all routes, cargo types, and markets, regardless of origin or destination. Customers are automatically enrolled through an "opt-out" model, enabling businesses of all sizes to access verified emission reductions without altering their operational processes.

"Businesses do not need to invest millions of euros to make a difference. With just a few additional euros per shipment, they can contribute to emission reduction without incurring operational costs," said Kathrin Brost, global vice president for the GoGreen program at DHL Global Forwarding.
The new GoGreen Plus portfolio comprises three tiers, addressing various decarbonization goals and budgets. GoGreen Plus Base offers a default 10% emission reduction via a "book and claim" model at a fixed price. GoGreen Plus Premium allows for up to 85% emission reduction, priced per shipping route. GoGreen Plus Select provides tailored decarbonization pathways for large clients and complex supply chains.
All products utilize the "book and claim" mechanism, where the group uses sustainable fuels within its transport network and allocates the environmental benefits to customers purchasing emission reduction services, even if their specific shipments are not directly transported with these fuels. This approach facilitates rapid scaling of emission reductions across the entire network, especially given the limited infrastructure and supply of sustainable fuels.
A company representative stated that the expansion of the GoGreen Plus portfolio comes as more businesses seek reliable emission reduction pathways aligned with scientific targets and disclosure requirements. Specifically, there is growing demand for reducing scope 3 emissions, which originate from supply chains, while companies must balance costs and operational complexity.
According to Amanda Rasmussen, Chief Commercial Officer at DHL Global Forwarding, the new solutions aim to redefine customer expectations for low-emission logistics services. DHL also emphasizes "insetting" solutions, which reduce emissions directly within the value chain rather than through external offsets, aligning with international sustainability management trends and standards.
The GoGreen Plus portfolio supports the group's sustainability roadmap, which targets net-zero emissions by 2050 and the use of 30% sustainable fuels by 2030. By expanding access to low-emission shipping services, the group anticipates boosting demand for sustainable fuels and lowering barriers for businesses in measuring their climate impact.
Amidst increasingly stringent climate regulations and expanding environmental disclosure obligations in many countries, logistics providers are transitioning from experimental sustainable service packages to models that integrate decarbonization into core services. DHL's new initiative reflects a broader trend in global trade towards measurable supply chain emission reductions that align with corporate climate commitments.
