During his state visit to the Philippines on 31/5, General Secretary and President To Lam met with various organizations and businesses.
Meeting Chin Yin Ong, co-president and head of organizational capability at Grab Group, General Secretary and President To Lam praised the company's contributions to e-commerce development and digital transformation in Vietnam.
He noted Vietnam is promoting digital economy, digital society, smart cities, and sustainable transport. Based on this, Vietnam's leadership encouraged Grab to invest in smart city and public transport projects, digitally promote Vietnamese tourism and cuisine, and support enhancing digital skills for the populace.
Grab operates across Vietnamese provinces and cities, demonstrating deep and broad market penetration with at least three services: GrabBike, GrabFood, and GrabTaxi. Chin Yin Ong affirmed Vietnam is one of the group's important markets.
Grab committed to continued long-term investment in Vietnam, participating in multimodal transport connectivity, supporting urban public transport, and infrastructure for green vehicles. The company will also promote digital transformation and enhance digital skills for people through online learning platforms, promote Vietnam's image regionally, and research and pilot new technologies like autonomous vehicles and delivery robots.
"The company is always open to all possibilities and cooperation opportunities and hopes to continue receiving attention and support from authorities at all levels," she stated.

On the same day, General Secretary and President To Lam met Tristan Aboitiz, president and chief executive officer of Aboitiz Foods. He praised the group's activities in sectors aligned with Vietnam's development needs, such as: energy, food-agriculture, infrastructure, finance, industrial real estate, and data-AI.
He encouraged the company to explore investment in low-emission, resilient energy projects and expand cooperation in green agriculture, smart agriculture, traceability, and sustainable food value chain development.
The Aboitiz Foods leader expressed a desire to expand investment in Vietnam across energy, food-agriculture, infrastructure, and digital transformation, aligning with Vietnam's development orientation.
Meeting Masato Kanda, president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed Vietnam values its cooperative relationship with ADB and seeks to deepen this partnership in the new development phase.
He expressed hope that ADB would continue supporting Vietnam in promoting sustainable economic growth, enhancing economic competitiveness, improving resilience to global challenges, and progressively achieving long-term development goals.
The General Secretary and President welcomed ADB's initiatives in areas such as: energy connectivity, capital market development, digital economic integration, green transition, and finance, which align with the development needs of ASEAN and Vietnam. Vietnam committed to continued coordination, facilitation, and regular exchange with ADB to effectively implement cooperation contents in the upcoming phase.
The ADB president affirmed Vietnam is an important development partner. He expressed admiration for Vietnam's recent socio-economic growth achievements and its future development objectives.
The ADB president reiterated ADB's commitment to supporting Vietnam in achieving its long-term development goals, including: growth model transformation, enhancing competitiveness, private sector development, green transition, and regional integration. ADB is particularly focused on supporting private sector development in Vietnam.
Meeting Saia Ma'u Piukala, Regional Director for the Western Pacific of the World Health Organization (WHO), General Secretary and President To Lam expressed a desire for continued technical support and expert advice from WHO to enhance policy formulation and the organization of a healthcare system suited to the new context.
The General Secretary and President requested WHO to introduce and popularize Vietnam's traditional Eastern medicine alongside modern medicine, aiming to increase resources and methods for public health care and protection regionally and globally.
Saia Ma'u Piukala, WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific, acknowledged Vietnam's efforts and successes in healthcare. He affirmed continued coordination and support for Vietnam in disease and epidemic prevention and control, enhancing capacity for forecasting, surveillance, detection, epidemic prevention, emergency response, and ensuring health security.
