Fesco increases shipping capacity on India-Russia route by nearly 20%

Russia's Fesco transport group has expanded capacity on its Fesco Indian Line West (FIL-W) service, strengthening the container shipping network connecting Novorossiysk port with India, the Middle East, and the Red Sea region.

This expansion follows the deployment of a larger vessel to replace a smaller one on the route. The new ship is currently on its inaugural voyage from Jebel Ali (UAE) to Novorossiysk, transporting imported cargo.

Two other Fesco container vessels, with a combined capacity exceeding 2,000 TEU, continue to operate on the FIL-W service, providing stable weekly slot availability. This service, launched in 2023, links Novorossiysk with Nhava Sheva and Mundra in India, as well as Jebel Ali (UAE) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

In 2025, the FIL-W service transported over 19,000 TEU, marking a 16% increase year-on-year. Of this volume, exports accounted for approximately 8,000 TEU, while imports surpassed 11,000 TEU.

This added capacity is expected to meet the rising trade demand between Russia, South Asia, and the Middle East, while also enhancing service stability for shippers along this crucial transport corridor.

Established in 1880, Fesco Transport Group is a Russian-based transport and logistics conglomerate. The company operates across various sectors, including sea and rail transport, port operations, and international logistics services. Fesco maintains a fleet of container ships, a railway system, and logistics centers that support its extensive multimodal transport network. The group plays a vital role in facilitating trade connections between Russia, Asia, and other global markets.
